More Movies Worthy of Seeing..
1. The Hate U Give 2018 - is a racially charged drama.. with an outstanding cast.. based on a book by the same name by Angie Thomas.. The film follows the fallout after a 16 year old female high school student Starr Carter (Amandia Stenberg) witnesses the police shooting of one of her friends Khalil (Algee Smith)..
The shooting takes place in a predominant black neighborhood and the police officer is white.. setting off immediate upheaval by the community.. Unfortunately Starr Carter as well as many other black people know all too well because of the times we live in.. that if confronted by officers.. you must put your hands up in clear sight and not make any sudden movements that might insight a possible racially motivated incident.. and in this case Khalil reaches in to get a hairbrush of the vehicle.. while the officer has told him to stay by his car.. and when the officer sees him pickup something in his hand .. he fires his weapon killing Khalil..
Khalil's unwarranted killing immediately becomes a national news story .. and although Starr's identity was kept secret at first.. the killing of this unarmed young black man weighs heavily on the black community.. This film is insightful, gut wrenching and full of drama.. I truly loved it and was engrossed in the film from start to finish.. Love, Love, Loved it.. Unfortunately what happens in this film rings all to true in the times we live in today.. Incidents such as this happen all across the country causing even more racial divide and unrest.. A definite must see film.. for the entire family.. this film is extremely thought provoking and a teaching moment for us all..
Truly Amazing..

From the train Rachel spots Megan kissing a stranger and after going to confront Megan wakes up in her bed covered with blood.. Megan disappears and Rachel is soon questioned by the police because she was seen in the area.. This film is packed with drama, gripping suspense .. as well as plenty of twists and turns.. The film definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.. Loved it.. Definitely a movie for sleuths .. well worth watching..

The company soon introduces the real time program "SeeChange".. which uses small cameras placed everywhere to provide real time video of your life and experiences.. "TrueYou" another highly intrusive program is soon revealed to Mae as a program that is being used for not what it was intended .. which insights Mae to dwell more into the company .. and essentially learn the truth behind the madness.. This film is engrossing, suspense filled and intriguing.. I loved it.. After all social media "big brother so to speak" is bigger than ever in this world.. and just as social media can be used for "Good" .. there is much to say that in this day and age.. it can be also utilized for the wrong reasons.. This film is very thought provoking.. and well worth watching..

The older boy Lucas (Elijah Rodriguez) plays an MS-13 debt collector.. that is desperate to keep his 10 year old little brother Miguel safe and away from the gang.. However upon learning despite his opposition Miguel has been targeted to work as a runner.. the boys flee and are rescued by Daniel (Van Damme) who helps them and in the process get revenge on the gang that preys on their barrio.. I loved this film.. The film is insightful, full of riveting action and well scripted.. In my opinion one of Van Damme's best films.. and a film well worth watching.. Movie Trailer
5. Fighting with My Family 2019 - is a biographical sports drama comedy.. based on the documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family depicting the WWE career of professional wrestler Paige.. by Max Fisher..
I have to admit I had no idea what to expect when watching this film.. after all I am not a huge wrestling fan.. However this is the kind of film that grows on you .. you just have to give it a chance..
I became more interested in it after I found out it was a true story.. "The Rock" Dewayne Johnson makes a few appearances in the film and Lena Headey (Cersei from Game of Thrones) is in it.. playing the mother of Paige.. Overall it is a good movie.. Enjoyable .. Definitely a film for any wrestling fan.. True Story

New TV Shows.. First Impression
1. The Enemy Within 2019 - is a crime terrorism drama.. In the show Erin Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter) is a CIA analyst that after a Russian master criminal named Mikhail Vassily Tal threatens her daughter Hannah in exchange for information on the agents that disarmed his recent bombs.. Erin chose her daughter over the lives of her fellow operatives.. Resulting in her being arrested by FBI agent Will Keaton and was sentenced to prison for being a traitor.. Three years later .. Tal has come out of hiding and struck again and the powers that be choose to bring Erin into their investigation.. Erin gives them conditions and provides them information to stop the attack.. After one of Tal's operatives is defeated .. Erin tells Keaton that Tal's allies have grown and have blended into society in order to fly under the radar until they receive orders to attack..
My first impression of this show is that is similar to that of Blacklist.. however for now the jury is out on this show.. after all Blacklist has a much better cast .. and Shepherd (Carpenter) is no Reddington (James Spader)..
2. The Umbrella Academy 2019 - is a Netflix superhero fantasy drama.. based on a collection of comics written by the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, Gerald Way ..The show starts off by explaining on one day in 1989.. 43 infants were inexplicably born to random unconnected women who the day before showed no signs of pregnancy.. Seven of those children were bought and adopted by a wealthy industrialist and I might add weird man ..Sir Reginald Hargreeves (who created the Umbrella Academy) Preparing his "children" to save the world.. testing their skills, training them.. schooling them.. (even tattooing umbrellas on them)..Ultimately the children disband and go their separate ways..
The show actually starts years later when the six surviving children reunite upon hearing the news of Sir Hargreeves death.. They work together to solve how their father died.. but their personalities and abilities again pull them apart.. however on news of a impending apocalypse they realize they must try to stop it..
My first thoughts is that the series is extremely entertaining.. a group of young superhero like misfits with interesting abilities .. and a dark undertone story.. what more could anyone want.. I predict this one is a big hit for Netflix.. The Trailer
3. Whiskey Cavalier 2019 - is a crime action comedy drama .. The shows follows a tough but tender FBI agent named Will Chase (codename Whiskey Cavalier) who is assigned to work with CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (codename Fiery Tribune).. Together with their team they of course are assigned to go on missions .. Needless to say the show is filled with comedy antics, action and more antics.. Love the female CIA agent.. Reminds me weirdly of Moonlighting with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd..
The show is funny and action packed.. However this show may not make the cut.. only time will tell..
4. Good Girls 2018 (second season just started) - is a crime comedy drama on NBC.. The series follows three suburban Detroit mothers.. and two of them are sisters.. All three women are having a hard time making ends meet, as well as having their own family issues on top of that.. They ultimately decide to pull off a robbery at a supermarket where one of the sisters works.. only to discover that they have just gotten themselves in over their heads .. when they realize the money they stole was being laundered.. and now they owe him money.. I loved the first season last year.. the series is really funny .. and at times touching .. It also holds your attention from start to finish.. Loved the first season and the second season just started .. You got to see this show if you haven't already.. Love Love Love it.. A definite must see
5. After Life 2019 - on NETFLIX starring Ricky Gervais .. is a dark comedy series about a man who after his wife dies decides he may as well live however he wants.. .. a one time pleasant average man changes into an overly aggressive and crude person.. Just started watching this show.. and so much to say.. definitely a must see show that everyone from what I have read loves.. including MYSELF.. Love Love Love It..
This show is exceptional, heart-breaking dark humor at its best.. truly genius.. I love Ricky Gervais.. and I myself am dealing with depression and being alone isn't easy ..truly alone is horrible actually.. you can't get your mind to stop.. I get everything about this show.. I wish life was easier on everyone in this world..but unfortunately its not.. that is why they call it LIFE.. and pain is just a part of it.. Life isn't easy.. Sometimes you can't make sense of it all.. why people leave.. why sadness seems to swallow you .. sometimes it is rough.. but this show hopefully will touch people.. makes being sad okay.. and laughable.. puts a voice to pain.. definitely imaginative .. :) Love it
Inspiring words from the "After Life"

Amazing Documentaries That Everyone Should Watch
1. Leaving Neverland 2019 - HBO two part documentary .. Leaving Neverland explores the experiences of two young boys James Safechuck at age 10 and Wade Robson at age 7.. both of who became friends with Michael Jackson.. Safechuck who is now 40 and Robson now 36 year of age tell their story in their own words.. with plenty of pictures, notes, and videos of them through their young years with Michael.. the interviews with the two men along with their mothers, siblings and wives are poignant, gripping and truly gut wrenching.. I started watching the documentary with no preconceived notions of what to expect and the portrait that was painted through the pictures and interviews was overwhelming.. They two young men describe at how much they were in love with Michael and at such a young age they wanted to please him and how Michael told them that if anyone was to ever find out about their "relationship" their dreams, lives etc would be over.. The film also highlights not only the reasons the two of them kept the secret hidden for so long but what ultimately broke them as young men to come forward..
I found myself watching the film totally engrossed in every word.. totally wrapped up in how much pain as a child they must have dealt with silently.. especially since Michael had made them feel like they were "special"..and then at how when he moved on to other boys and how traumatic that must have been on top of what they had endured in order to be "special" to Michael.. that it must have been like kicking them in the heart knowing he had moved on to other boys.. it was obvious from the interviews these young men knew they felt jealous and replaced .. and still could not speak the truth.. how every time Michael gave them any attention they felt like they were still in a "relationship" with him.. even going so far as him reaching out in order to have them testify for him when he had already moved on to other young boys.. the consistent denials when asked ... it is truly the saddest story.. and I have to say I believe every word..
I have to say .. I have known abuse, and threats.. and pain.. I know there are going to be plenty of viewers that chose not to believe them.. but I would ask everyone to remember you cannot place blame on a child and when someone goes through that kind of trauma and grooming the way these two boys did.. well I would just allow them the right to let this documentary speak for itself.. Sexual abuse is not only horrific but something we have to start addressing in this country..
Amazing documentary and well worth watching.. more on the story

A great documentary ..truly interesting and thought provoking.. a definite must see

This film is one you will not soon forget.. as it is poignant, horrifying, traumatic and cruel beyond belief.. I have to be honest.. The film met with mixed reviews but I loved it.. and feel like it is truly an amazing film.. and one well worth watching..
7. Saving Private Ryan 1998 - is an epic war drama set during the Invasion of Normandy in WWII.. The film is notable for its graphic portrayal of war especially during the opening to the movie which depicts the Omaha Beach assault during the Normandy landings.. The film follows US Army Rangers Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) and a squad as they search for paratrooper Pfc. James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon) who is the last surviving brother of four servicemen..
The movie highlights bravery, honor, decency and courage throughout a film filled with blood, brutality and relentless action.. Love Love Loved it.. Real Brothers that may have inspired film

Here are my reviews..
1. Bohemian Rhapsody 2018 - is a biographical musical drama about the life of Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) lead singer of the British rock band Queen... The film follows Freddie's life from the time he joins the band in 1970 to their 1985 Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in London England.. The film traces the rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.. as well as Freddie's rise to become one of the most beloved entertainers in the world.. The film amazingly shines a light on Freddie's struggle with his demons .. it is inspirational.. exceptional and gut wrenching .. Queen has always been and will continue to reign as one of the most exquisite rock bands of all time.. Freddie would be extremely proud of what his band mates, Rami Malek and all that worked on Bohemian Rhapsody achieved.. Truly a outstanding film.. Rest In Peace Freddie..

2. Green Book 2018 - is a comedy drama based on the real life of relationship between classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley and Tony Vallelonga ( known as Tony Lip ) a bouncer who served as a bodyguard and driver for Don Shirley in the 60s. While I had never heard this story before, this movie was definitely awe-inspiring. I thought the film represented a good portrait of the era and the dynamics of racial prejudice during the 60s. I really loved this film and thought that both of the main characters (Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen) did a great job at bringing to life the longtime friendship.

3. Black Panther 2018 - Marvel superhero action film with an outstanding cast highlights a superhero who unites some African tribes to form Wakanda who have developed advance technology and come to isolate themselves by posing as a third world country. Without giving away too much of the storyline someone comes to Wakanda to challenge its ruler for the throne. The movie has many strong female roles and highlights family dynamics. I found it an extreme action thrill ride and very watchable for everyone of any age.

4. BlacKkKlansman 2018 - is a biographical crime drama based on the Black Klansman memoir written by Ron Stallworth.. The film follows Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) the first African-American detective in the early 70s, as he sets out to infiltrate and expose the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.. The film features an outstanding cast that do an exceptional job at highlighting racial issues during that time.. In the film Stallworth recruits his Jewish coworker Flip Zimmerman to act as him in order to infiltrate the chapter. The movie is definitely a snippet of history and insightful .. and definitely a must see ..
At the end of the film there is some real footage of the Charlottesville, VA 2017 Unite the Right Rally along with President Trump's statement made after it took place..
5. If Beale Street Could Talk 2018 - is a poignant romantic drama based on a book by the same name by James Baldwin.. and features an outstanding cast.. The film follows a young Afro-American woman who with the support of her family seeks to clear the name of her wrongly incarcerated boyfriend and the father of her child.. I have to say I was completely spellbound by this film from start to finish.. set in the 70s the film shows the racial turmoil that the young couple endured as well as the community as a whole.. The film also captures their innocence especially Clementine "Tish" Rivers (KiKi Layne).. and their struggle to remain together .. The film is gripping, inspiring and yet heart breaking .. a definite must see
Regina King won for best supporting actress as the mother of Clementine "Tish" Rivers
6. A Star is Born 2018 - is a musical romantic drama film and a remake of other films of the same name.. including the 1976 film that starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.. The film follows a hard drinking and drug addicted country musician Jack Maine (Bradley Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer-songwriter Ally (Lady GaGa).. Much like in the 1976 film this remake shows the struggle addiction, the romance and the pain and agony of loss.. I really enjoyed this film.. Although I have fond memories of the 1976 version.. after all I was only 16 years old at the time of its release..

7. Vice 2018 - is a biographical comedy drama movie that follows Dick Cheney (Christian Bale) on his path to becoming one of the most powerful Vice Presidents in our history.. I found the film extremely interesting.. which actually surprised me.. For one Dick Cheney at one time was a lineman.. which hit home for me because my son in law is a lineman.. for another I learned he dropped out of Yale due to his struggles with alcohol.. In the movie it tells of how Cheney worked as a White House intern in 1969 under Nixon and his economic advisor Donald Rumsfeld.. and how he rose to be White House Chief of Staff for Gerald Ford etc etc... The movie has had mixed reviews.. and at times it shows the seedier side of the White House.. and politicians in general.. After all it reminds us at just how human politicians truly are.. Sadly even though I found it interesting it didn't surprise me, after all we've had plenty of disparaging politicians and likely will have much more in the future.. (i.e. Watergate, Clinton and Lewinsky, and Anthony Weiner just to name a few).. with that being said.. I highly recommend seeing this film..

Abigail Hill who is Sarah's younger cousin arrives for employment .. at first just being a maid to the court.. but soon wins the Queen's attention.. who makes her lady of the bedchamber .. more drama ensues and Sarah and Abigail both wail against each other for the Queen's attention.. New Films that are NOT what I had hoped for..
I have to admit upon starting this review blog .. I had no intention of doing any negative reviews however I have recently watched several films that not only did not rise to my preconceived expectations but that seemed for lack of better words .. lackluster ..
1. What Men Want 2019 - is a fantasy comedy film and an obvious remake of the 2000 film, What Women Want that starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt.. which was in all honesty a very enjoyable film about an advertising exec that gained the ability to hear what women were thinking.. it was funny, had a romantic twist and ultimately was well received by viewers..
However What Men Want starring Taraji P. Henson seemed in contrast to flounder by comparison.. and completely left me wondering why they didn't follow the original film more..
In the film.. Ali Davis (Taraji P. Henson) plays a successful sports agent who consistently is sidelined by her male counterparts.. and after being passed over for a promotion.. questions what more she needs to do to succeed in this testosterone driven world.. The film in my opinion disappointed simply because it wasn't as funny as the movie trailers had led you to believe.. Unfortunately trailers are sometimes misleading.. and this is one of those times.. :( SAD
2. Isn't it Romantic 2019 - is a exaggerated romantic comedy film that follows Natalie (Rebel Wilson) who after getting hit on the head wakes up in a world where everything around her plays out like a romantic comedy (rom-com) film.. In the beginning of the film you see Natalie as a small girl watching the movie Pretty Woman.. when her spirit is crushed by her mother that women like them (women that look like them) don't get happy endings in real life..
Years later you see Natalie working as an architect in NYC with self esteem issues... that after someone tries to take her purse in the Subway she is knocked unconscious after running into a pole..where she wakes up to a much nicer world.. everything and everybody is unnervingly different like some alternative universe different..
This movie in my opinion was a neither hit nor miss.. Yes it was funny at times and Rebel Wilson does a good job... but it also seemed like a less gratifying version of the film I feel Pretty that starred Amy Schumer.. to which I felt was very enjoyable with all the Amy Schumer antics everyone has come to know and love..
See the movie and let me know what you think..
3. Trading Paint 2019 - is a action drama film .. The film features Sam (John Travolta) a local car racing legend that now supports his son's Cam Munroe (Toby Sebastian) dreams.. The film almost immediately pits the duo against each other when his son decides to drive for one of Sam's rivals.. Sam's love interest is Becca (Shania Twain) .. Linsky only offers Cam an opportunity to drive to get back at Sam.. This film is predictable and unfortunately good but not great.. The story drags but because of Travolta and Twain is watchable.. I enjoyed it but if you want to watch action packed car racing.. The Fast and Furious franchise can't be beat..
4. Night School 2018 - is a comedy film..starring Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.. The film follows Teddy Walker (Hart) as a man who never got his high school diploma .. and works as a barbecue grill salesman who learns he is to inherit the store when the current manager retires.. However after Teddy causes an unfortunate explosion the manager takes the insurance and runs away.. leaving Teddy jobless and seeking a new job.. His best friend tells him he can get a job where he works but he has to get a GED first.. Now let me me say .. I had high hopes for this film.. I love Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish is amazingly funny.. but :( ..
This film was just okay.. Haddish and Hart are a great team..but I just don't think the script was all that great.. Let me know what you think..
Better comedic must see Haddish and Hart films.. Nobody's Fool , Girls Trip and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Upside
5. The Spy Who Dumped Me 2018 - is a action comedy film starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon.. .. The film follows two best friends "Audrey and Morgan" who are chased through Europe by assassins who are after one their ex boyfriends "Drew" who turned out to be in the CIA..
This movie is full of great action and humor.. Kate McKinnon did a great job and who doesn't like Mila Kunis...but the story just didn't meet its hype or potential..
6. The Happytime Murders 2018 - is a satirical comedy crime film.. starring Melissa McCarthy.. The film is set in a world where humans and puppets co-exist.. and follows Detective Connie Edwards (McCarthy) a policewoman who along with her puppet police squad must solve a recent murderous spree of retired sitcom stars.. This film is truly difficult to describe.. The film for me was lacking in everything.. and even though I love Jim Henson's puppets which were directed by his son.. it just didn't hit the mark.. and was disappointing..
One quick note however I can't wait for the new Labyrinth 2 film and the new Dark Crystal on Netflix..

4. The Following 2013-2015 - was a crime drama thriller series that followed former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) trying to help recapture serial killer Joe Carroll.. When the FBI called on Hardy .. he was still dealing with his physical and emotional scars from when Carroll was apprehended years earlier.. Carroll while incarcerated collected a whole group of cult-like followers that are willing to do anything to hide Carroll and help him with his objectives..one of which is to exact revenge on Hardy .. I loved this series.. it is gripping, interesting, full of drama.. and keeps you on the edge of your seat.. A definite must see series..

The Sopranos 1999-2007 - was a crime drama series that revolved around New Jersey Italian American mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).. and focused on the difficulties he faced as he tried to balance his family and his role as the leader of a criminal organization.. to which are explored during his therapy sessions with his psychiatrist.. of course being Italian .. the series features numerous family members as well as his mobster friends, colleagues and rivals.. I really enjoyed the series.. and while I won't say I have seen every episode I have seen the vast majority of them..
Soundtrack to the series is outstanding.. and the opening song "Woke Up this Morning" is haunting..
6. Lucifer 2016-present - is a fantasy crime drama series.. The series follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) the Devil.. who has abandoned Hell for LA where he runs and owns a nightclub.. becoming a consultant to the LAPD.. In the series there is a love interest for Lucifer .. LAPD Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).. I love this series... and have watched it faithfully since it started.. Definitely a series binge worthy..
Honorable Mention
Forever 2014-2015 - was a fantasy crime drama series which centered on Dr. Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd) an immortal NYC medical examiner who used his extensive knowledge and observation skills in order to solve crimes. He also sought to discover a way to end his immortality.. The series only ran for one season but I truly enjoyed it.. in each episode there was flashbacks to his past and how he came to be immortal.. He also had somewhat of a love interest.. and his now grown (Judd Hirsch) whom Henry and his late wife found as a newborn in WWII.. While not wanting to give to many details.. I loved this series.. and while it didn't last it is well worth watching..
Evil Lives Here 2016-present - is a documentary true crime series in which each episode features police footage, photographs, videos and interviews.. as well as an inside view of the murderer as told through the eyes of someone close to them.. this is an riveting series and while I have not watched all of the episodes as of yet.. I do find it extremely interesting
American Horror Story 2011-present - is a horror drama series and each season is based on a completely different storyline.. While the series is very difficult to describe in detail.. I will say that after watching the first season I was hooked.. while all the seasons are scary some are more intense than others.. The series is interesting, engrossing and dramatic.. a definite must see series for anyone who enjoys suspense filled thriller type shows..
