Historical Period Drama Films..

1.  Mudbound 2017 - is a epic period drama based on a book by the same name by Hillary Jordan.. The film follows 2 WWII veterans .. one is white Jamie McAllan (Garrett Hedlund) and one is black Ronsel Jackson (Jason Mitchell) .. who return to Mississippi only to address PTSD issues and racism.. This film is amazing.. the cast is truly exceptional .. The films depiction of the era is dynamic.. as each family struggles to survive in the poverty stricken Mississippi Delta.. I found myself totally engrossed in the struggles of both Laura McAllan (Carey Mulligan) the wife of Jamie's brother who lives in a loveless stagnant marriage with two small children.. and that of Florence Jackson (Mary J. Blige) a strong, hard working woman who struggles to keep her family safe during an extremely brutal and racially divided time.. The movie is poignant .. inspiring.. insightful.. gut wrenching and thought provoking..

The movie is packed full of intensely horrific scenes.. that are truly breath taking.. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish..  Truly a movie worth watching..   Mudbound Film Depicts History

Years later the couple discover that the child was assumed lost at sea with her father.. and that her grieving mother is very much alive..  I loved this film..it is very dramatic.. and heartbreaking .. The film details at how during the 70s the international drug trade was very lucrative and spawned a whole new generation.. even the title of the film "Blow" is slang for cocaine..  One of my first reviews on this blog was the movie "American Made" that chronicles the true story of Barry Seal a pilot and drug smuggler turned informant in the same drug trade..  I loved this film.. it was truly interesting, detailed and insightful ..
