New Releases Worth Watching

1.  The Dirt 2019 Netflix - is a biographical music drama that focuses on the rock band Motley Crue.. The film follows how Motley Crue came to be.. and starts by flashing back to 1973 when Frank Carlton Feranna Jr. walked away from his drunk mother after years of abuse.. moving then to LA in 1978.. In 1980 Frank eventually changes his name to Nikki Sixx and befriends a young drummer Tommy Lee.. revealing he is looking to form a new band.. Soon the pair are joined by Mick Mars who is called the old man of the group and suffering from ankylosing spondylitis (a form of arthritis, a painful inflammatory disease).. The trio than recruit a young Vince Neil as the lead vocalist after which choose the name Motley Crue for the band..

I have to say watching this film was like a poignant flashback.. since back in 1989 I can remember vividly going to the band's Dr Feelgood concert in Frankfurt Germany with my ex-husband..

The film recounts each of the band members stories with drugs, women, and the "over the top" no holds barred rock and roll lifestyles in which they led... I have to be honest..I found myself totally engrossed in the film from start to finish .. especially the heart breaking circumstances of Vince Neil's little girl... I actually remember hearing about the story back then but I was brought to tears while watching the film... Definitely a must see film for all rock enthusiasts

2.  Triple Frontier 2019 Netflix - is an action crime drama .. with an outstanding cast that includes Charlie Hunnam and Ben Affleck.. The film follows a group of former Special Operation soldiers who reunite in order to seize drug money from a South American crime lord.. I enjoyed watching the film.. although I would call the film somewhat predictable.. In the film the Delta Force friends decide to go to Columbia under the pretense of assisting with the war on drug crime.. the set up is planned out great.. however whatever can go wrong does.. The film is full of drama and action..

3.  Finding Steve McQueen 2019 - is a bank heist drama film.. The film features an exceptional cast and is based on the true story of a United California Bank robbery..  The film focuses on an unlikely gang of thieves that plan to steal thirty million of dollars from President Nixon's illegal political slush fund.. resulting in the biggest manhunt by the FBI.. Loved the film.. very entertaining.. great period details.. amazing cast of characters...

4.  How it ends 2018 Netflix -  is a action disaster apocalyptic thriller.. Will and Samantha are a young couple who are expecting their first child.. Will flies to visit Sam's parents in Chicago .. her disapproving father and him get into an argument.. The next day some kind of apocalyptic event happens and her father says that he will drive Will back to Seattle to get Samantha.. In the film there are earthquakes, fires.. disrupted power grids.. etc.. action ensues throughout the film..  In one part of the film .. a compass is spinning.. which may explain that the earth has flipped poles.. which would account for the earthquakes grid collapse and tsunami's.. etc..  In all honesty I really enjoyed the film and Will (Theo James) along with (Forest Whitaker) who played Sam's dad were great..

The movie highlights how one's survival instincts would kick in during such an event.. The film ultimately is much like "The Road" which in my opinion was a great apocalyptic thriller..

5.  Welcome to Marwen 2018 - is a drama fantasy film that is based on the 2010 documentary Marwencol by Jeff Malmberg.. The film follows the true story of Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell) a man who after being physically assaulted struggles with PTSD and to ease his trauma.. creates a fictional village called Marwencol.. The film met with mixed reviews.. but after seeing the film.. I can honestly say it is not only very unique but interesting.. and thought provoking.. The story of Mark Hogancamp's attack and subsequent spiral after the trauma is truly heartbreaking.. but inspiring.. Movie Trailer

6.   On the Basis of Sex 2018 - is a biographical legal drama based on the life and early cases of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.. The film stars Felicity Jones as Ginsburg.. and is exceptional.. The film starts as Ruth Bader Ginsburg is just beginning Harvard Law School.. and shows early on at how she pushed the boundaries in order to rise to the top.. despite overwhelming doubt.. The film is inspiring, interesting and captivating from start to finish.. After all she has fought for the rights of women for years.. and her story is one that will be remembered long after she is gone..
