Tom Cruise Films
Okay so let me first say.. Tom Cruise is best known for his overwhelming success in action films.. especially the Mission Impossible franchise.. However I personally have loved him as an actor ever since Risky Business..
Here are some of my favorite Tom Cruise films..
films of his already reviewed in my blog..
1. Top Gun 1986 (Top Gun Maverick is due to come out in 2020) - is an action drama based on a young naval
aviator (Tom Cruise) who has the chance to train at the Navy's Miramar
Fighter Weapons School .. where he meets and falls in love with an
instructor (Kelly McGillis) .. I love everything about film.. the
exceptional cast.. the soundtrack.. and the gut wrenching dramatic
scenes.. The whole movie is outstanding..
Note: A sequel Top Gun Maverick with Tom Cruise is being made and scheduled to be released in June 26 2020 Trailer
2. The Mummy 2017 - is an action adventure thriller.. The film follows a
US soldier Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) who accidentally discovers an
ancient tomb of a trapped Egyptian princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella)..
This film is full of action, drama and adventure.. Ahmanet who was
cursed and buried alive for killing her father and family is truly a
formidable force.. add in all her scary zombie minions.. Wow.. This
film takes you on a wild roller coaster ride.. Loved it..
3. American Made released
in 2017 as a biographical crime story based on Barry Seal (played by
Tom Cruise) a former TWA pilot that became a drug smuggler for the
Medellin Cartel during the 80s and who flew missions for the CIA. In the
end Mr. Seal becomes an informant for the DEA to avoid jail time after
being convicted on smuggling charges. Needless to say there is endless
action and some comedy throughout this film, as well as this movie is
just plain entertaining. After researching the story I learned that
ultimately Mr. Seal was killed in front of his workplace by contract hit
men hired by either the Ochoas or Pablo Escobar. The movie version
leaves out and distorts some of the real Barry Seal story but after
researching more about Mr. Seal, I believe he may have witness much more
violence than projected in the movie. Another note worth mentioning is
Barry Seal is portrayed (by Dylan Bruno) in the 1st season of the
Netflix series Narcos.
4. Risky Business 1983 - is a romance comedy based on a young Joel Goodson
(Tom Cruise) who falls for a sexy prostitute Lana (Rebecca De Mornay)..
In the film Joel quickly gets in way over his head when his parents
leave him in charge while they are out of town and he becomes entangled
in a confrontation with Lana's pimp.. A feel good, coming of age film..
5. Eyes Wide Shut 1999
- is an erotic psychological thriller based on a 1926 Vienna story
written by Arthur Schnitzler. In the film which takes place in the New
York City a married physician Bill Harford (Tom Cruise) after being told
by his wife Alice (Nicole Kidman) of a contemplated affair becomes
sexually aroused and embarks on attending a secret masked sex society
event. Unfortunately that is where the story starts to spiral out of
control. The reason that this film is basically a cult erotic thriller
is more than likely based on the fact that in the 90s the subject matter
(i.e. HIV transmission, sex clubs, voyeurism) of the movie was at that
time somewhat startling.
6. Legend 1985
- is another dark fantasy film that enchanted my whole family many
years ago. The story is based on a boy Jack (played by Tom
Cruise) that learns Darkness and Goblins have been sent to kill
unicorns, the magical creatures that guard the light. The goblins take
the horns to Darkness who is trying to destroy the light. A girl
Lily distracts Jack and after another unicorn is slain the world begins
to change to winter. Fantasy abounds in this tale of light and eternal
darkness as the pair of them rush to save the world from Darkness.
7. Mission Impossible franchise
Mission Impossible 1 -1996, Mission Impossible 2 -2000,
Mission Impossible 3 -2006, Mission Impossible 4 -2011 Ghost Protocol,
Mission Impossible 5 -2015 Rogue Nation, Mission Impossible -2018
Fallout - Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt a special agent in the
IMF (Impossible Mission Force) in all these action packed films and
while I won't go into the dynamics of each film I will say they have a
huge following. I have watched the films but I have never been a true
fan of either MI series or the James Bond 007 films.. Although I find
both MI and OO7 films to be packed full of drama, espionage, and on the
edge of your seat action. However with that being said not every movie
is everyone's cup of tea and all of my movie picks are just based on my
opinions and I urge everyone to judge these movies for
yourself..

In the film a dock worker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is forced to look after his kids.. where he struggles to build a relationship with them while protecting them.. as well as reunite them with their mother when aliens attack Earth..
This film is awesome in just about everyway.. Dakota Fanning plays one of his kids.. and she is amazing in this film.. There is plenty of suspense, emotions, action and visual effects.. LOVED IT
10. Jerry Maguire 1996 - is a romantic comedy-sports drama.. starring Tom Cruise, Renee' Zellweger, and Cuba Gooding Jr. The film follows Jerry Maguire (Cruise) who is a high octane sports agent .. that after drama ensues decides to open his own sports agency.. Dorothy Boyd is a single mother who decides to join him.. The both of them work tirelessly in hopes of making it big.. Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr) is one of their prospects and they work to get him a sweet sports contract..One of the films best known quotes.. is Tidwell and Maguire saying "Show me the Money".. another impactful quote comes from Zellweger when she says "You had me at Hello"
This movie is one of the best Cruise films.. It has everything.. drama, romance and gut wrenching displays of emotion.. You gotta love this movie for the sheer acting performances alone.. LOVE LOVE LOVED IT..
11. Interview with the Vampire 1994 - gothic romantic thriller film ..based on a book by the same name by Anne Rice.. The film has an outstanding cast that includes Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst..
The film focuses on the relationship between Lestat (Cruise) and Louis (Pitt) beginning with Louis transformation to a vampire and chronicles their life together and ultimate turning of a ten year old girl Claudia (Dunst) into a vampire.. The narrative is given by Louis to a San Francisco writer (Slater) as some kind of cleansing of his past deeds..
The film is a classic and is truly captivating.. Definitely not the typical vampire film.. the secrets, twists and turns are intriguing and gripping.. LOVED IT
12. Rain Man 1988 - is a comedy drama film .. The film tells the story of selfish egotistical young man Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise) who discovers that his estranged father has died and left all his estate to his other son Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) who is an autistic savant.. Charlie wasn't even aware he had a elder brother.. and he definitely is unaware of his brothers mental challenges.. All of which he soon he soon undertakes..
This movie is funny, inspiring, charming and exceptional just like Raymond.. truly exceptional .. Definitely a must see film.. Enjoyable from start to finish.. Hoffman is amazing..
Tom Cruise has starred in numerous movies.. Here are a few other films definitely worth seeing..
