Nicole Kidman Films

I have always watched Nicole Kidman films for one reason or another.. but it wasn't until this year.. that I truly realized how outstanding she is as an actress.. with her exceptional performance in "Destroyer"..

films of Nicole's already reviewed in my blog..

1.  Destroyer 2018 - is a emotional crime drama which features a truly exceptional cast starring Nicole Kidman .. The film follows an LAPD officer (Kidman) who is assigned to go undercover in order to take out members of a gang .. however things don't go as planned and the film depicts at how intensely the horrific events of the past have taken a toll on her life.. and consumed by guilt .. The film first gripping scene .. plays a much bigger part in the film than one might think .. and overtime you see how Erin (Kidman) is driven to face her demons and get revenge for the death of her partner and father of her daughter..  I have to be honest.. Nicole Kidman was completely magnificent in this film.. I was completely engrossed from start to finish... Loved this movie.. A definite must see film..

2.  Aquaman 2018 - DC comics superhero based movie for me was an extremely interesting action flick. While I admittedly have no prior knowledge of comic storylines and have never been much of a fan of superhero films. I was totally engrossed in the story of a normal lighthouse man rescuing a princess of Atlantis during a storm and then them having a son with the ability to speak to animals and breathe under the sea.  The movie quickly progresses into a struggle between two sons rights to the throne.  I would describe this movie pure enjoyable action and a definite must see..

3.  Boy Erased 2018 - is a biographical drama with an outstanding dynamic cast.  To begin I will say this movie was extremely eye-opening.  The story follows Jared Eamons the son of Baptist parents who is forced take part in gay conversion therapy. While I will admit I had previously heard of the barbaric practice of conversion therapy used on homosexuals to supposedly change their sexual orientation.. I had only heard stories..

Boy Erased is the film adaptation of the autobiographical memoir of Garrard Conley who went through the very controversial and ineffective practice of conversion therapy..

The film Boy Erased touches on a contentious subject but one that I believe has to be discussed.  The practice of conversion therapy does more harm than good and for anyone struggling with their sexual orientation I completely understand where this could drive them to possibly do something extreme if they feel they are not being accepted by their religious upbringing or society including family.. I feel this film is a must see by everyone and possibly could be introduced into some churches as a way to open discussions on the topic.. For myself I believe in a loving God and a God that would never turn away anyone... Please watch this film and let me know if you agree

4.  The Upside 2019 - is a comedy drama that follows a recently paroled convict (Kevin Hart) who desperately needs a job and is hired by a paralyzed billionaire (Bryan Cranston) who has seemingly lost his will to live.. The film focuses on the friendship between the pair, and insight into both of their lives.. it features fast cars, medicinal marijuana, parasailing and urinary catheters.. This movie normalizes disabilities.. demonstrates how impactful true friendship can be.. and is truly a sentimental heartwarming movie.. I really enjoyed every minute of this film..

The Upside was originally released in 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival.. and is a remake of a French film titled The Intouchables which was inspired by the life of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo.. and his French Algerian caregiver Abdel Sellou..

5.  Eyes Wide Shut 1999 - is an erotic psychological thriller based on a 1926 Vienna story written by Arthur Schnitzler.  In the film which takes place in the New York City a married physician Bill Harford (Tom Cruise) after being told by his wife Alice (Nicole Kidman) of a contemplated affair becomes sexually aroused and embarks on attending a secret masked sex society event. Unfortunately that is where the story starts to spiral out of control. The reason that this film is basically a cult erotic thriller is more than likely based on the fact that in the 90s the subject matter (i.e. HIV transmission, sex clubs, voyeurism) of the movie was at that time somewhat startling.

6.  Cold Mountain 2003 - epic war drama film based on a book by the same name by Charles Frazier.. The film has an outstanding cast that includes Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Renee' Zellweger,  and Natalie Portman.. The film tells the story of a wounded Confederate deserter W.P. Inman (Law) at the end of the Civil War.. who is on his way home to be with the woman he loves.. Ada (Kidman) who he left behind when he went off to war to manage the farm.. This film tells an inspiring story of love and devotion during the Civil War..

7.  Dogville 2003 - is a live theatrical crime revenge thriller with an outstanding cast that includes Nicole Kidman and Lauren Bacall.. The story follows Grace Mulligan (Kidman) as a woman who while hiding from mobsters finds herself in the small mountain town of Dogville, Colorado.. and is provided a place to stay in return for labor..  Amazing film .. Totally not what I expected..

8.  Practical Magic 1998 - is a romantic comedy film based on a book by the same name by Alice Hoffman.. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play sisters Sally and Gillian Owens who have always known they are strange ..they were raised by their aunts when their parents died .. both sisters carry the Owens' family curse that the men they fall in love with will meet with untimely deaths.. However now after being reunited the sisters must combine their powers in order to fight the family curse and other supernatural forces that are out to get them..  This movie is totally enjoyable.. its funny, enchanting, and captivating..

9.  Lion 2016 - is a biographical drama based on the non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley.. The film tells the true story of how Brierley set out to find his family after being separated from them for 25 years .. Saroo was only 5 years old when he was separated from his brother, mother and sister in India when he boarded a train.. Unable to find his way back home he became one of the street children until he ended up at an orphanage and was adopted by an Australian family.. This film is enchanting, inspiring, touching and uplifting.. all at the same time.. Definitely worth watching..

10.  Secret in their Eyes 2015 - is a psychological crime thriller based on an Argentine book La pregunta de sus ojos by Eduardo Sacheri.. The film follows Jessica "Jess" Cobb (Julia Roberts) an investigator for the LA district attorney's office along with Ray, a counter-terrorism agent for the FBI along with new ADA Claire Sloan (Nicole Kidman) receives a call about an unknown female body that was found in a dumpster near a mosque that Ray has been investigating.. At the crime scene that both are devastated to discover that it is Jess's daughter.. that has been brutally raped and murdered..

The film is full of suspense from start to finish.. its intriguing, gripping and packed with twists and turns..  I really loved it.. a definite must see film..
